The universe is expanding. The universe is contracting. The universe is a multibillion-year process of returning to room temperature. And here in our little corner of it, the tribulations of our daily lives are doing pretty much the same thing. Eighteen songs provide snapshots of relationships in various stages of decay, and the valiant (sometimes not-so-valiant) efforts of lovers (and not-quite-lovers) to start a fire up or keep one burning. See why love is against the laws of nature... and why most of us do it anyway.
Libra was thrilled to be work on The Entropy Songs with Joshua H. Cohen, one of the 2011 recipients of the Jonathan Larson Grant. The Entropy Songs received its world premiere at the Abingdon Theatre Company in 2006, where it inaugurated the company’s new cabaret space. Although songs from the piece have been performed numerous times across the country, this marks Entropy’s second full production. This is such an intelligent, compelling piece, and Libra is thrilled to have produced it as our first full production.
Also, scroll down to watch videos of a few songs from the show! These performances were featured in August 2010's cabaret Post No Bills: The Songs of Joshua H. Cohen featuring three Libra officers/artists Madeline Clapps, Nick Luckenbaugh, and Jeff Raab. And be sure to check out more about Joshua H. Cohen at his website: www.joshuahcohen.com. He's such a talented artist, and we're privileged to have been able to work with him on Entropy.
